Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple
Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, popularly known as Baba Baidyanath Dham, is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and among the most revered pilgrimage destinations in India. The temple is located in the holy town of Deoghar in Jharkhand and attracts millions of devotees every year.
Religious Significance
According to Hindu mythology, the demon king Ravana performed intense penance to please Lord Shiva. Pleased with his devotion, Shiva granted him a Jyotirlinga with the condition that it should not be placed on the ground before reaching Lanka. Due to divine intervention, Ravana had to set it down at Deoghar, where it became permanently established as the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga.
The temple is both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peetha, making it exceptionally sacred for devotees.
