Guptkashi

Guptkashi is a sacred town in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, situated on the route to Kedarnath. It is one of the most important halting points for pilgrims undertaking the Kedarnath Yatra.

Religious Significance

According to Hindu mythology, after the Kurukshetra War, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva's blessings. Shiva, avoiding them, is believed to have hidden (Gupt) himself in Kashi, giving the place its name "Guptkashi" (Hidden Kashi).
